How To Know If Someone Is Stealing Your Internet

Using a third-party software and checking your router are two simple ways to find out if a neighbor is using your internet (without addressing them).

 1. Use a third-party app to determine which illegal access to your Internet.

There seems to be an app for everything these days, including detecting if someone is stealing your internet access. You can view a list of devices connected to your home wireless network with an app like Wi-Fi Guard (available for Android and iOS). It could be a neighbor using your internet without your authorization.

 2. Checking the status light on your router, as well as the settings on the routers app

a)      Router status light

The status lights on your router should flicker when there are connected to it. As a result, it makes sense to turn off any of your internet-connected devices to see if your network has any illegal user.

 To do this, put all of your devices on airplane mode or turn them off completely. Check your router to see if any lights are still glowing after they have gone offline. If so, you may have an unauthorized user on your network.

 Numerous ultramodern routers include a smartphone app that allows you to set up your internet and manage your account. These apps will also include a function that allows you to see all of the devices that are connected to your router.

To use this option, log onto your router app and look for the list of connected devices. Depending on your router type, it may be called a "clients" or “network" log. Once you've located it, go through the list to see if there is any device you can’t recognize.
